There is no such thing as a hardcore gamer. hardcore.....
A Hardcore gamer doesnt exsist. It's a fairy tale that no one will ever be able to explain what it is. And anyone who tries to explain it, there is usually always flaws in their explaination.
Its definition is extremely subjective.
Cool, thanks for the thoughts. So why all the fuzz on how Ninty let down hardcore gamers.
Well I mainly play 1st party action games.I dont know if thats hardcore? If you look thru my games you will mainly find mario, starfox, and sonic to,Never played zelda(only zelda 64 orcrania of time if I spelled it right) or pikmin lol.and theres no definition

not really hardcore gamers...more along the lines of, let's say...hardcore fans that have been with nintendo since the NES or SNES days...people who just want games like zelda, mario, star fox, DK, pikmin, kirby to make an appearance....we heard some info on some of those, but they didn't show up...that's what all these whiners mean by ''let us hardcore gamers down''
People just want harder games that require some skill or thinking. Wii Sports and Wii music doesn't really offer any of this, nor does it look intresting(IMO).Neither does alot of the other titles currently on the wii. Also, people were expecting to see Zelda,Mario,Pikmin,F-Zero or something else which I dont even know why. Never should get hyped over nothing.
In the Wii's case, hardcore has to do with Nintendo's original IP's. However, this can get blurry real fast as some of Nintendo's core IP's are meant to be casual (Animal Crossing). Zelda, for example, would be considered ''hardcore'' because it attracts a ''core'' group of Nintendo fans, and it's not generally a ''pick-up-and-play'' type of game. But then again, I play Zelda, and I also enjoy Wii Sports. So what am I? I'm a Wii owner, naturally, but that's about all you can garner from that statement.
A hardcore gamer is only someone that calls themselves that because it sounds... ''hardcore'' :D

People are stupid. That's why. They either:
- Forgot about the game's already set to release by third parties/nintendo
- Seem to think that big named titles that are on the other two consoles will come to Wii
- Think that Nintendo will stop making games for their core fanbase from here on out
In the end? People are dumb ... and need to STFU because its getting annoying and repetitive.
There is no such thing as a hardcore gamer.
Yes, yes there is. Why do people try so hard not to acknowledge hardcore gamers? Not only that but you reject all forms of defenitions of a hardcore gamer. I know that technically there is no such thing, but as a gamer, you know what a hardcore gamer is whether you like it or not. The problem is that it's such a vague image. Video gaming is just a hobby. The level of how deep you are into this hobby decides if you're a hardcore gamer or not. A hardcore gamer is the type of person that takes the time to research games, takes scores into consideration, plays games a lot more often, knows different kinds of developers etc... It's just a person that takes more time and effort to learn about the video games that he or she plays. That's it. That's the best definition I can give you.Now this has absolutly nothing to do with the people that Nintendo is focusing on because based on my definition, as long as you take the extra time to appreciate gaming, you're a hardcore gamer. So of course, games like Wii Fit and Wii Music can be considered hardcore. To that I just say: I was describing a hardcore gamer, not a hardcore game. A hardcore game is something that don't really think exists. But if someone does have a decent definition then I'd be glad to read.I just believe that Ninteno has been making their games more simpler so that they could line in an audience that wouldn't normally play games. That's my complaint. This is ind of pointless though because since this is the internet I'm sure that someone is going to dissect my reply, word-by-word, because people love to disagree for the hell of it here. Have fun.
Dude we should be friends.Your totally right about these.People have to see that Nintendo is always trying to make the next big thing.I just can't wait till Nintendo announces something big (even if it's later on this year) Then your gonna see people writing post about how they knew nintendo wouldn't let them down...I'll be there asking them if they were the ones bi** about Nintendo.
to me a hardcore gamer is some one who takes this hobbie seriously. its more than something to do when its raining out side. who realy loves the video game medium. One who demands the very best out of games.
There's no official definition but I think the most general use of term is for someone that's passionate about gaming and the industry in general.
You could read the articles in my sig. You'll recognize a lot of people here (specially in SW) that's exactly how the articles describe. ;)
I don't consider myself hardcore, just an old school gamer, btw.
''Hardcore'' gamers are elitists that like to think their interpretation of gaming is better than anyone elses. For some reason they expect everyone to believe that their opinion matters more than the ''casuals''. That games that don't fit their expectations are ''dumbed-down'' for ''casuals''. But, in truth the ''hardcore'' are simply a group of whiners banded together under the flag of ''hardcore''.
I don't know what exactly is a hardcore gamer, I only know that it's not a casual gamer, and for me a casual gamer is a person that could say ''let's play videogames'' as easly as ''Let's play monopoly'' when there's nothing else to do.
There's no official definition but I think the most general use of term is for someone that's passionate about gaming and the industry in general.
Yeah. And given that they should be open and receptive to new ideas as well as enjoying classic franchises that are expected to deliver. Hardcore gamers = devotion towards gaming. It's more than just something to pass the time. They come to forums and talk about games and discuss changes that could make them better etc.
