Why does Nintendo hype casual games?

They announce and show off worthless casual games and such at E3 but I doubt the market they are trying to sell those games to are going to watch E3. Also I doubt casual gamers are going to hype Wii Music for months even if they did see it. So why not show games we can get excited for even if it's just an announcement or small clip. The core gamers are the ones watching and streaming E3. And don't say Nintendo doesn't have any good games to show off because they clearly said they are working on them. Why does Nintendo hype casual games?

They're not going to watch E3, no. But they're going to read all about it in the news. From everything I recall seeing, Nintendo was the big news story by far of E3.
Because it makes them money, just like Ubisoft.

But unlike Ubisoft, Nintendo's casual games are actually good, and they also develop more quality titles like Mario, Zelda, Animal Crossing, and Pikmin.

Did you not see the media blitz that was Wii Sports and Wii Fit? Wii Music will get some attention among the non-gamers and casuals. And who was watching E3? Gamers, yes... but also a lot of investors and analysts. Gamers can get news on core games anytime they feel like.
E3 isen't just for us gamers. Media and Business summit is part of it's name... And why are casual games worthless? I am a gamer...I own a large amount of games...I like to sit down for hours to play games sometimes. But due to recent events I can't play games that require so much time in order to have fun anymore. I need some casual games. I am excited for some of the games the Wii has to offer because they are so casual. Well if they clearly said they are working on them then what's your problem? :?
Nintendo is aiming towards a large mass of casual gamers this gen. I know it's hard to accept but the sooner you do realize that this isn't the same gen., like the one they brought you with N64, the sooner you could start to enjoy your Wii.Even if they did announce a new Zelda or F-Zero game, it'd most likely come with a corny gimmick as a selling point (like the Wii Wheel) and its difficulty is going to be eased down a little, so that casuals could get a hang of it quickly. If you don't like Nintendo's direction then do what I did and buy yourself either a 360 or a PS3.

No mention of Sony or Microsoft.

For about the next 6 months i bet hardly anyone will be talking about it but if a new Zelda clip was shown people would go crazy and just dreaming about what it will be like and searching everywhere to find the smallest bit of info. So couldn't they have just shown Wii Sports Resort around Christmas instead.

And you know as well as I do that gamers like us check the news practically daily for updates. Nintendo can announce games we want practically any time and we'll know about it. Not so with the more casual gamers - Nintendo has to time it right for them to hear about this stuff. They're not gonna go looking.

I guess I am just angry because I was looking forward to hearing about all the cool new games and it didn't really happen. Next year I won't make the same mistake and not get hyped about E3.

This isn't quantum physics. Nintendo is making a ton of money from the casual/female market they have finally tapped into. Nintendogs: 20 million soldWii Play: 13.9 million Brain Training: 13.53 millionWii Fit: 5.65 million Metroid Prime 3: 1.43 millionZelda TP (Wii): 5 millionI remember last gen in system wars, all any Sony fanboy would talk about was sales. Kind of ironic, isn't it.

Nintendo is leaning towards a large mass of casual gamers and these core titles are probably going to be simplified, as I already said, so that the casual audience can easily jump into the game. It was the case for Metroid Prime 3, and Mario Kart Wii. Super Mario Galaxy was also extremly easy when compared to Super Mario 64.This generation, hardcore gamers will probably be disappointed by Nintendo, as proven by E3. This E3 was hyped to death and since Nintendo didn't deliver much but more casual grabbers, the forum went nuts and I've been seeing more of those ''I'm a loyal Nintendo fan but I have to admit that Nintendo sucks blah blah blah'' kind of threads. Plus I don't think I'm going to believe anything Nintendo says about trying to cater to the core gamers until they actually announce something. I'd just be in for a disappointment.
