Was E3 2008 Really That Bad?

I surf through the internet, watch videos on youtube, see some comments on sites and forums and all I see about Nintendo's E3 was that it sucked. But, I watched all three press conferences and I have to say the Nintendo E3 conference really impressed me. It brought alot of stuff to the table such as - WiiMotionPlus (looks very, very cool in my opinion 1:1 ratio will only make the experience better) Animal Crossing: City Folk (Looks like a great game, I'm definitely going to pick it up) Wii Sports Resort (looks like a fun game, I'm going to be honest and it being bundled with the WiiMotionPlus is well...a plus!)Wii Music (looks really fun, also utilizes the WiiFit board for the drums. Drums look great, can't wait to get it.)Shaun White's Snowboarding, Star Wars Clone Wars, Rayman, Call of Duty: World at War for the Wii look like some fun, and great titles. DS games like Guitar Hero: On Tour, Spore (only available on the DS if you don't have the PC version), Pokemon Ranger, Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, are all looking good. Also briefly spoken (and rumored titles) - Pikmin 3, new Zelda game, new Mario game, and Capcom bringing us Deadrising. Cammy, the lady explained how the DS can be used for several things - airport tools, cook books, live sport scores, awesome functionalities for the DS, and it really makes me glad I have a DS right now especially for all the titles its getting aswell. And last but not least my favorite announcement - WiiSpeak. Finally the Nintendo Wii will be getting a communcation tool that we can use over WiFi. Seems like a cool idea, and I'm really excited for it.So lets recap, for the casual gamers alot of games and information were brought to them stuff like - Clone Wars, Rayman, Pokemon Ranger, Guitar Hero: On Tour, Wii Music, and Wii Sports Resort. The (hard)core gamers got titles too like - Animal Crossing, Grand Theft Auto, Spore and Call of Duty: World at War, Pikmin 3, new Zelda %26 Mario game, and maybe Deadrising aswell as the WiiSpeak microphone for us to chat online.I'm not saying,''WOW! Nintendo really brought there best efforts to this years' E3 and it was the BEST!'' No, I'm not saying that but there's alot of hate going around I don't think it justfyable. The Nintendo Press Conference this year, was not the best, but definitely not their worst. They serve the casual gamers with alot of stuff, they gave us, the hardcore gamers, a some but that doesn't mean we're not getting anymore, TGS is around the corner and there might be alot more stuff ready to be unveiled. In my opinion this E3 was enjoyable to watch, and I think it was a good one.Post some comments, I'm interested in what you have to say.Thank you,PGL Was E3 2008 Really That Bad?
When Nintendo emphisized the word ''core'' and talked about ''maximizing'' key franchises I expected a heck of a lot more than just Animal Crossing. Was E3 2008 Really That Bad?

I about went into a coma from laughing so hard when they announced it.Spore and Call of Duty: World at War - ok, you got me there.Pikmin 3, new Zelda %26 Mario game - what conference did you watch? Not only were these not announced, I did not even catch any hints! You cannot count this!and maybe Deadrising as well - key word...maybe!as the WiiSpeak microphone for us to chat online. - I am exited about this, but I doubt it will be that popular. So here is the revised version of that sentence:So lets recap, for the casual gamers alot of games and information were brought to them stuff like - Animal Crossing, Rayman, Pokemon Ranger, Guitar Hero: On Tour, Wii Music, and Wii Sports Resort. The (hard)core gamers got titles too like - Grand Theft Auto (uber crappy edition) , Star Wars Clone Wars, Spore and Call of Duty: World at War,maybe possibly there is a chance we will get Deadrising and they were left wanting Pikmin 3, new Zelda %26 Mario game! Oh and we get the WiiSpeak microphone for us to chat online. (Another money sucking accessory!)-Oh and please don't respond by saying that zelda, mario, and pikmin are in the works and it was announced after E3! Of course they are ''in the works'' was that ever in question? Can you imagine a nintendo that is not working on new zelda / mario titles? I can't! That just means we are not getting it soon, next year at the earliest.
They were announced at the small nintendo conference but I do agree that the main conference was bad

They needed to reveal more non-casual games instead of just saying they exist. If it wasn't for the VC, my Wii would be on eBay right now. I'd probably end up regretting that, so good thing for the VC! Now, bring me Super Mario RPG and we can be friends again, Nintendo!

Your favorite announcement is WiiSpeak?So basically it's a glorified headset, you know, the kind that comes with an xbox 360?Nintendo really needs to beef up their online strategy.COD:WaW is not going to be that fun with Nintendo's butchered online experience...Those casual games don't compare to the likes of FFXIII, RE5, SC IV, etc;
WiiMotionPlus (looks very, very cool in my opinion 1:1 ratio will only make the experience better)Hooray, yet another addon to the Wiimote. At least this one does something useful, unlike the zapper and wheel Animal Crossing: City Folk (Looks like a great game, I'm definitely going to pick it up)If the online doesn't suck ass like all other Wii games, it could work. Butyou will probably have to jump through aload of hoops just to get the online working. Other than that, looks cool.
Wii Sports Resort (looks like a fun game, I'm going to be honest and it being bundled with the WiiMotionPlus is well...a plus!)Looks alright for another minigame collection, but I think it will be like Wii Sports and Wii Play. You'll play it for a couple of days then leave it, only to get it out again whe your little cousins or grandma come round. Give me long adventures like Mario Galaxy or Zelda over this minigame garbage any day. Wii Music (looks really fun, also utilizes the WiiFit board for the drums. Drums look great, can't wait to get it.) No, it looks terrible. The gameplay demonstration they gave at the conference was an embarrasment. It was noisy, had no rythm, made the people look like asses, and was just painful to watch.Shaun White's Snowboarding, Star Wars Clone Wars, Rayman, Call of Duty: World at War for the Wii look like some fun, and great titles.Shaun White could be really good if they nail the balance board controls. The game will fail or succeed there. Not interested in Star Wars games, I'm done with the Raving Rabbids franchise, and CoD is multiplat, and multiplat games on the Wii are rareley the best version. I'll buy CoD on 360, and leave the Wii to good exclusive games. DS games like Guitar Hero: On Tour, Spore (only available on the DS if you don't have the PC version), Pokemon Ranger, Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, are all looking good.GH:OT didn't recieve the greatest of praise, but I haven't tried it so I can't say much about it. Spore looks very cool, I'd like to know more about how different it is from the PC version, I might get both. Pokemon I'm done with, the series peaked at Gold and Silver. And how can you say GTA is looking good? We only have a logo. Very interested to see more though.
Also briefly spoken (and rumored titles) - Pikmin 3 really? did i miss something?, new Zelda game awesome, new Mario game awesome, and Capcom bringing us Deadrising awesome.
but the fact that these were only breifly mentioned shows how far away they are.
Cammy, the lady explained how the DS can be used for several things - airport tools, cook books, live sport scores, awesome functionalities for the DS, and it really makes me glad I have a DS right now especially for all the titles its getting aswell.I hate that woman, and I can't take anything she says seriously. And I'd rather use my DS for... I dunno... games? And last but not least my favorite announcement - WiiSpeak. Finally the Nintendo Wii will be getting a communcation tool that we can use over WiFi. Seems like a cool idea, and I'm really excited for it. Now heres the problem with that, as explained on the Giant Bombcast. Have you ever been playing Xbox Live, and somebody has their mic too close to the TV, and you get the TV audio over the headset? Its really distracting and really annoying. Now, this mic is supposed to pick up the whole room, and its placed right above the TV. So if theres even a split-second of delay on the mic, you'll get TV background noise, which sucks. Why do Nintendo always have to go the stupid difficult route? We ask for a mic, they deliver, but decide it has to be different and potentially useless. Why couldnt they just make a damn headset?Thats why I think the conference sucked
Thank you,You're welcome
Wow, I was a little infant when that storm directly crossed my South Carolina town. Anyways back on topic: I want a definition of ''hardcore'' please. Some say it has something to do with the video game players who keep track of the gaming industry news/announcements ect., but I do that and still play loads of casual games. I want answers.
First off Pikmin 3 was announced, and so was dead rising. And we all know they are coming out with a new mario game for the wii and a zelda game for the wii.
it was horrid for Nintendo. At least MS gave out more and so did Sony in a way.
it was horrid for Nintendo. At least MS gave out more and so did Sony in a way.
Wait you haven't gave up on Nintendo have you? Oh and awesome sig.

What was with Nintendo bragging about all the games they had most of its shovelware and I would not be flaunting it around. Like they have twice as many games as MS and sony.

wii speak and motion+ were the only good things. Wii Sports Resort looks fun too. Overall i give it a 5/10
Nintendo failed before the conference when they announce the 1:1 add-on when it was suppose to be in the wiimote to begin with.
