Nintendo Showed Nothing At E3, Don't Go ...

I'll make my post on how everyone upset is wrong but here's a little thing everyone should read before the next angry thread..........''I think that there's probably one other element to it, and that's that our view of how we use E3 has changed. For a very long time, E3 was an event where %26mdash; and certainly Nintendo included %26mdash; catered specifically to the core gamer. Now we look at more %26hellip; an opportunity for us to introduce new concepts and new types of play that we intend to bring to the broader audience, particularly because of the media that gathers at E3 now. So while attending an E3 event like this, they might be given the impression that Nintendo is no longer focusing on the games that appeal to the core gamer, in fact we're still working on many of those titles, but it's just not the type of event where we'll be showcasing that anymore.''Wanna guess who said it? Knowledge is power! Nintendo Showed Nothing At E3, Don't Go ...
I know who it is with out reading its Miyamoto. Well he did show how you can play Wii Music, playing the sax, guitar, and the drums.Nintendo Showed Nothing At E3, Don't Go ...
I hope people take notice of this. I couldn't care less if we have nothing for the rest of the year, there are like 8-10 games I'm buying between September and December, and a load in the first few months of next year. Plus there is still Animal Crossing, one of the games people begged for, 1:1 control, one of the things people begged for, microphone, one of the things people begged for. I just think some people are over-reacting because the exact game they wanted isn't announced for the end of '08, I mean did you seriously think Nintendo would announce 3 new big games coming out then...The way I see it is, wait until E4All, then if Nintendo hasn't shown anything for the core, be worried, but until then, zip it.
I didn't even click on the link that I knew it was Miyamoto who said that. Nintendo is using the E3 for their casual titles to show to the mainstream while we know that Nintendo is planning another event a la SpaceWorld for the core titles. Nintendo should really recreate the SpaceWorld. Screw the E3. Have their own show like they did in the past. That SpaceWorld should have their casual and core titles at the same place.
Well, we'll have to wait until Tokyo Game Show I guess. But, all we have to look forward to in the fall is Animal Crossing and Wii Music. Although I'm beginning to accept it, I can't help but feel they could have a done load better. They are the best developers in the world for christ's sake. Just compare end of 2007-first half 2008 to end of 2008-first half of 2009. Last year was thousands of times better. This is why everyone is upset/dissapointed.

This is why there's no reason to be worried
I'm not worried about Nintendo. Two of their best development studios sit open right now, and I'm just waiting for them to be filled with the smells of a new game(Intelligent Systems and Retro). Retro has been open for nearly a year now, and Intelligent Systems will be open in a month with Fire Emblem DS being released in Japan(and they can produce more then a DS game at a time, they likely have at least 3 more games in their studio right now). Also, this is all Nintendo has announed for the next year(or so).
  • Mario Super Sluggers (Done, In Translation)
  • Wario Land: Shake It (Done, In Translation)
  • Fatal Frame IV (In Japan) (Minimal support from Nintendo)
  • Wii Music (More then likely nearing completion as we speak)
  • Animal Crossing: City Folk (Supposedly done)
  • Announced for 2009
    • Wii Sports Resort (thats 1 game)
  • Release Date Unknown
    • Kirby (2, If its still in developement, supposedly due out this year in Japan)
    • Captain Rainbow (second party, Skip Ltd.)
    • Pikmin Wii [1] (3, in development)
    • The Legend of Zelda [2] (4, most likely been in development a year by now)
    • Super Mario Platformer [3] (5, I dunno what to say about this)
    • Disaster: Day of Crisis (Monolith must be nearly done with it by now)
So that leaves you with 5 games(plus Disaster I suppose) that Nintendo is working on right now, do you guys honestly think thats it? Wii Sports doesn't take the biggest developement, and with Disaster more then likely nearing completion that leaves us with a minimal amount of games from Nintendo. Nintendo is huge, they can produce more games then this(and if you look at the DS, they are pretty empty there as well), they have things brewing over at Nintendo HQ, and I suggest we wait and see what they are, before we go all crazy and claim casualization.
Miyamoto owned every hater in the past 3 days. First with the IGN interviews, then with the ''we're making pikmin'' and now with this.

HE IS UNSTOPPABLE.
This is why there's no reason to be worried
I think there's plenty of reason to be somwhat worried. Nintendo revealed their entire 2008 lineup and the most hardcore games are a 2D Wario game and a sequel to a GC game which was intended for casuals at the time.Nintendo has shifted most their attention to simple casual games. Hardcore gamers will suffer. Just how much they will suffer, we'll see in the coming months I guess...
OK. So they went into a conference not expecting it to get streamed to every core gamer on IGN and GS and instead thought they would show us what they think E3 'is' or 'is becoming'. Good news everyone... E3 is a waste of time.

So what show should we watch to get excited about what Nintendo has to offer, because I'm in the mood for a good pumping up when it comes to things nintendo. Really just let me know and I'll watch and I will hope Nintendo does much better that what they thought E3 was about.

Nintendo has done plenty so far.

Of course they will shift there attention. The Wii is home to a lot of the expanded audience -- they have to. Nintendo isnt dumb though, they won't abandon their core userbased. They don't want to ruin their reputation. No business does.

Sure, last year they showed Wii Fit, but they had Galaxy, Metroid, and Smash to show they were serious about pleasing the hardcore gamer. This year.. not so much. Also, if you heard Reggie's post E3 comments on G4 you should be worried. He says that he doesn't understand how hardcore gamers could possibly be dissapointed because they have Animal Crossing and GTA on the DS. Animal Crossing is not really a hardcore game and the DS is easily the worst system for a GTA title. He could have at least said, ''Be patient. We have more up our sleeve. You'll find out soon enough''. But no. Instead he told us that we should be satisfied with what we have.
Nintendo never liked E3 since Sony ripped off analog. Most big anouncments these days come from their own stuff.

Yes, but that's not now.
I love how people say that Nintendo isn't catering to the core audience after their show, but look at the games coming out in the coming months. Animal Crossing and Pikmin are core Nintendo franchises, plus there are several more core games coming to the Wii and DS from 3rd party devs.
Jaysonguy, you've made more sense than anyone about this issue. All of a sudden, I don't hate Nintendo anymore. :)Thanks.

No one knows when Pikmin is coming, but since nothing is shown I'd say the earliest we'd see it would be late 2009, but even that is just a hopeful guess. What other core franchises do we have coming soon? Nothing. That is why everyone is worried and somewhat angry. Hopefully, they'll show more games at upcoming shows. We'll just have to wait and see.I have no complaints about the third party lineup. There are actually quite a few upcoming games that interest me.
