I mean, I'm sure I'm not the only one who positively hated Hiroshi Yamauchi. Hell, I was a diehard Nintendo fantard the first year of N64's life. I gobbled up every line of **** he spewed and gladly paid $85 for my copy of MK Trilogy with lower res sprites just because ''loading times were teh suck'' which struck me as hugely ironic in hindsight because I was a major PC gamer at the time.
Let's put it this way.
The complaint arose that N64 lacked RPGs in comparison to Saturn and PSX. Well, that's simple. RPGs are a fad.
Okay, N64 lacked games and was very delay prone. Well, that's okay too. Because here on N64, we emphasis Quality over Quantity but will gladly laugh as Clayfighter 63 1/3 ships for $75.
My breaking point was as Nintendo stated they had a killer RPG lineup incoming and even NP magazine labeled Quest 64 as ''one of the finest RPGs ever crafted.'' Well, before I could end my battle with that **** I was in my Walden Software buying a Playstation, FFVII which I had previously referred to as ''watching a game rather than playing'' because I never touched it (Nintendo said it was baaaaad), and Xenogears.
Even during last generation, we saw the exact same thing happen. Megagame was a problem inflicting the industry, well... except for Nintendo who obviously hated annual sequels (Mario Party) and spinoffs immune (pokemon). Amazing how Nintendo's now Megagame with the training market.
Not to mention the biggest burn, online gaming is a fad.
Majority of the exodus came from Nintendo never admitting a weakness and their PR line being **** you, we're Nintendo.'' And now we are seeing a return of that line now that they are back on top.
I don't really see it as the Core gamers leaving Nintendo behind, but Nintendo failing to accomidate all those people who had NES and SNES collections. The very notion of ''I own a Nintendo console for Nintendo games'' didn't even become a concept until N64. Before then, it was ''I own a Nintendo Console because I want the BEST games.''So who are all you people in these fourms claiming to be the big N's fan boys because i dont know who you are and I have been there since the nes. The wii is just become a mass transporter of mini-game mini games and this years e3 is showing that the N is really selling out to the casual ''gamers'' who bought the wii cause opera told them. And yes i will use the phrase ''N sold out'' because i and many other people who have been buying from N for their great producs since the start feel like the kid whos best freind moved on to the popular crowd. The only game im waiting for on the wii now after this massively depressing Nintendo e3 is the Tales game and it wasnt even originaly anounced there! We need to stop buying this @#$!>! Remember what happened to the last Starfox on the GC, I cant imagine that happening to Zelda but with the pure hipocricy the big N has shown me lately i do have a llittle fear for 1st party games.Forever a nintendo fan (from some day and age...) What is the nintendo fan?
I'm really not sure what you are trying to get across here. So you're saying you think Nintendo has sold out and you don't like them anymore? I don't think Nintendo has sold out, I think they have put a lot more focus into ''casual'' gaming. They still are putting out first party games that deliver, look at what they announced this year: Animal Crossing, Zelda and Mario confirmed, Pikmin 3. They have even finally got a GTA game on DS. That's 5 pretty damn big titles on their way. What is the nintendo fan?
I don't get it. So you're saying you don't like them but your a huge fan of them.
That isn't making sense to me...
So who are all you people in these fourms claiming to be the big N's fan boys because i dont know who you are and I have been there since the nes.
Hi, my name is Cesar, pleased to meet you. Yeah, that is about the only thing I understood from your whole mess there. Also, just in case you are being literal....
I don't get it. So you're saying you don't like them but your a huge fan of them. That isn't making sense to me...
Yeah, it's the biggest wall of hypocrisy I've ever seen. I mean no offense to the TC, but I really wish you could explain this post a little more.
bought the wii cause opera told them.
A Nintendo opera? :o I must see it!Anyway, I dont see your point here. You arent really contributing much except your ''life experiences'' with Nintendo, which frankly (no offense) nobody really cares about. Great, you've been around since the NES. So have I and many other users on here. I honestly have no idea what the point to all that was.
Your post contains so much confusion :?.
So, if I understand correctly, you're feeling betrayed by Nintendo? I guess that's just what happens when you think of a company as your friend rather than a money making machine. They have no loyalty to you regardless of the amount you might show to them. They follow the money just like any other successful company. I can't blame them for 'selling out' as you put it.
I'm confused. What's your point?:|
Sure, Nintendo's going more casual, but that's how they can make money. We complained about the Game Cube, and now we get the Wii and we complain about that. Nah - the Wii's great. The core titles are still there, just as they always have been.
I'm a Nintendo fan since the SNES. I have never owned anything other than nintendo. Zelda is by far the best game ever made any one of em too even Wind Waker. I don't really understand your post but i'm standing up.
I can see how this makes no sense (i was in a frustrated rant mood after e3 finised last night). The point im trying to make is that Nintendo no longer cares about the original loyalst group in my opinion. For example, if you read the post and you may remember when Nintendo called RPGs a fad. Once they realized it wasnt true the took their most influencial IP, Mario, and made it into one with paper mario (im not even going to talk about quest 64). The big problem is that while accepting RPG gaming into the nintendo library isn't a big deal, not annnouncing any games for the core gamers is. Remember when Nintendo said that they knew many core gamers were wanting some news on a game that wasnt composed of just dumb mini-games and said they would show some off at e3? Well i watched and there was nothing that fit their promise. To be honest, I think the song editor in guitar hero world tour has more creative potentioal than the music game the keynote made such a big deal of. It all comes down to Nintendo being hipocritical and not delivering on promises to the fams of ther real games.p.s Many of you were confused as to how I can say this and still be a Nintendo fan. her is my anology (and yeha it kind of makes it sound like I have no life) You now when you break up with a GF because you know you need to bbecause shes a total **** but you still love her anyway. Yeah, its kinda like that...

I was in love and Nintendo was in it for the sex/money. I'm single now, but looking to date some third-parties. However, Nintendo isn't completely out of my life. They've just become a great booty call!
